MATTHEW 6:19-21

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also...."

These verses are really pretty self explanatory...Every material thing here on this earth, while in and of themselves are not necessarily bad, will eventually be destroyed or at least be left behind when we die. The pursuit of this material wealth generally brings about nothing good either. Stress and strife and discontentment in that we always think we "need" more. We need to put that same energy (can you imagine?) into pursuing the Lord and His Kingdom and building ourselves up something that will last for all eternity in Heaven. Plus living like that while we are here on this earth will bring about happy hearts and spirits....there has never been anything so true as....where your treasure is, there is where our hearts are....
